An offline baby journal app for hospital rooms, flights and dead zones

The first photos are taken in a hospital with one bar of signal. The first steps happen at a cottage with none. A baby journal that needs a connection to save a moment will fail at exactly the wrong time. Everkeep works offline, on purpose.

Why offline is a feature, not a fallback

Cloud-first apps treat offline as an error state: uploads queue, thumbnails go grey, and sometimes an entry silently fails. For a baby journal, the moments you most want are disproportionately in low-signal places: maternity wards, aeroplanes, rural grandparents, camping trips, basements with the washing machine.

An offline baby journal app that never needs to sync has no error state. The photo is saved the instant you tap; the timeline is always complete; search runs on the device. It also means capture is instant and your battery is not spent uploading in the background.

What works offline in Everkeep

The book itself, because your memories stay on your device:

  • Keep photos, videos, voice notes and written notes.
  • Read the Book by chapter and open any page.
  • Search the book by a word, a date, a first, or what was said in a voice note.
  • Read paper and write out voice on the phone. Both run on your device. The speech model is an optional download: get it once on Wi-Fi and it works offline after that.
  • Back up to a file, and restore from one.
  • Make the printed book. The PDF is made on your phone, and nothing is uploaded.

You need a connection to download the app, to download the optional speech model, and to buy or restore Everkeep Pro.

How to use Everkeep as your offline baby journal

Set it up while you have Wi-Fi, then forget about connectivity.

  1. Install before the big dayDownload Everkeep from Google Play or the App Store and open the book. If the baby is not here yet, you can add the birthday afterwards.
  2. Download the speech model (optional)If you want voice notes written out as text, open Audio transcription in Settings and download the on-device model while you are on Wi-Fi. After that it works offline.
  3. Keep pages anywhereIn the hospital, on the plane or at the cottage, press + and choose a photo, a video, a voice note or a note. The page is kept on your phone straight away.
  4. Read and search with no signalOpen the Book or Search. Everything is on the phone, so it works in airplane mode.
  5. Back up when you are homeSave a backup file from Settings and put it on a computer or a drive of your own. Nothing needed to sync in the meantime.
  6. Make the book offline tooThe printed book is made on the phone. Buying Everkeep Pro needs a connection, so do that before you travel.

Offline baby journal FAQ

Does Everkeep sync between my phone and my partner's phone?

No. There is no sync and no account, which is what keeps it offline and private. To move the book to another phone, save a backup file and restore it there. To share a single page, use Share.

Will I lose memories if my phone breaks?

Only if you have no backup, the same as anything kept on one device. Save a backup file every few months, or after big moments, and keep a copy off the phone.

Does transcription send my baby's voice to a server?

No. Writing out voice notes and reading paper both run entirely on the device. Audio never leaves your phone.
